pulling a train of short sections of track and sleepers from Carlisle to Crewe through Lancaster at 16.55 on June 8. CLASS 60 No. 60074 was sighted while passing by the former site of the old Cheadle Heath station on June 19 with loaded stone from Peak Forest to Warrington Dallam. Class 60 No. 60010 was also sighted while passing by the former site of the old Cheadle Heath station with the loaded BM Hoppers from Tunstead to Lostock Works. MARITIME blue-liveried

Class 66 No. 66109 was noted at the head of the 08.35 Lindsey

Oil Refinery-Neville Hill Depot loaded Petroleum wagons on June 17. The same service was seen again on June 24 when

No. 66120 was in charge, while on July 8 No. 66128 was at the helm.

CLASS 66 DB red-liveried

No. 66134 was seen between South Greenford and Castle Bar Park at the head of a train from Park Royal Marcon to Angerstein Wharf on Tuesday, June 23. DB-liveried Class 66 No. was observed heading south at 18.57 on June 27 with a Grangemouth to Daventry freight train, made up of Malcolm Logistics containers.

THE 7O02 from Acton Terminal Complex to Tolworth Sidings was seen between Raynes Park and Motspur Park on June 1, hauled by Class 59 No. 59101 Village of Whatley in Hanson livery.

At the same vantage point on June 17 the train was again observed, hauled by No. 59104 Village of Great Elm, also in Hanson livery. Prior to June, whenever the Acton Terminal Complex to Tolworth Sidings train has been seen it was behind a Class 66, so the use of Class 59/1 was a welcome change. However, on Wednesday, June 24, things were back to normal, again between Raynes Park and Motspur Park, the train being seen headed by green-liveried Class 66 No. 66512.

CLASS 66 No. 66619 was sighted while passing through Davenport station on June 1 with a train of empty stone boxes from Guide Bridge to Tunstead Quarry. Oddly enough there was one larger FHH stone white hopper right behind

No. 66619, which was also being tripped from Guide Bridge to Tunstead Sidings.

A PAIR of Class 90s – Nos.

(green) and (grey) – were observed on the 17.45 Coatbridge-Crewe on June 3. The following day, consecutively numbered Class 90s Nos. and (both in green livery) were on the same container working.

THREE aggregate consists arrived in Harwich Parkeston Quay yard from Whitemoor yard for the Parkeston Aggregate sidings during w/c June 8 – firstly, Class 66 No. 66506 Crewe Regeneration, followed by

Nos. 66517 and 66597 Viridor on June 10, and finally No. 66517, returning solo on June 12.

Classmate No. 66553 was also been in the Harwich Parkeston Quay yard on Network Rail shunting duties during the week.

CLASS 66 No. 66620 was observed on the Hardendale (Shap) to Tunstead mineral train on June 18.

CLASS 66 No. 66504 was noted at Harwich Parkeston Quay yard on June 15 bringing in a consist of empty container flats. With two such consists from Doncaster iPort already in the yard it looks like some of the NR reconditioned sidings are now going to be used to accommodate these excess container flats from nearby Felixstowe.

CLASS 92 Nos. 92011, 92019, 92032, 92036 and 92041 were noted at Dollands Moor on

June 20.

CLASS 66 No. 66597 Viridor visited Harwich Parkeston

Quay on June 22 and 24 with consignments of aggregate for the Parkeston sidings. CONSECUTIVELY numbered Freightliner Class 90s Nos.

headed a very lightly loaded Coatbridge to Crewe container service on June 24, passing through Lancaster at 21.26.

CLASS 66 Nos. 66516+66559 were seen at Woodlesford on June 24 running light engine from Leeds Midland Road to High Marnham on the 10.24 service, 24 minutes early.

‘OUR’ Class 66 No. 66503

The Railway Magazine headed north on a well-loaded

Wensleydale Railway Association 25 years 1990-2015,

Refinery consist at 16.00.

Two further aggregate consists arrived on June 17 and 19 from Whitemoor, bound for the Parkeston Aggregate sidings in the hands of Nos. 66725 and 66723, respectively.

No. 66751 Inspiration Delivered - Hitachi Rail Europe arrived in Harwich Parkeston Quay yard on June 17 from Peterborough MPD rostered to the Harwich Refinery to North Walsham condensate tank run and made the one run returning on

June 18.

Normally, any locomotive rostered to the Harwich Refinery to North Walsham condensate tanks diagram stays until the deliveries have been completed. However, on the w/c June 22, Class 66 No. 66712 Peterborough Power Signalbox duly took the empties to North Walsham on that day, returning to Ipswich GBRf in the late afternoon.

On the following afternoon it was noted back in Harwich Parkeston Quay yard, and by June 24 was round at Felixstowe Docks before taking an intermodal to Trafford Park.

As the Parkeston yard had empty container flats in its sidings it may well be No. 66712 took some of these.

That left the full tanks for delivery from North Walsham to the Harwich Refinery for

June 25. No. 66780 The Cemex Express obliged, making the trip from Felixstowe Docks to the pick-up point and then bringing the consist into the Harwich Refinery.

Class 66 No. 66750 Bristol

Panel Signal Box arrived in Harwich Parkeston Quay yard on June 29 for the North Walsham tanks diagram.

It completed the trip twice, bringing loaded tanks back on June 30 and July 2.

No. 66739 Bluebell Railway was noted in the yard on July 5, with the first weekend stopover intermodal for several weeks having arrived on 4Z81 from Masborough.

It left in the early hours of July with 4R26 to Felixstowe.

A visit to the yard on July 6 also noted No. 66740 Sarah, which had arrived with

No. 66775 HMS Argyll overnight, with the latter working the North Walsham empty tanks on 6P40 at 04.30.

No. 66740 Sarah finally left Harwich Parkeston Quay yard late on the evening of July 6 with 4R07 to Felixstowe.

Presumably this was to take round the container flats that had resided in the yard for the last month as intermodal use seems to be now gathering pace across the network as businesses come out of the Covid-19 lockdown.

GBRf Class 66 No. Bluebell Railway ran light from Carlisle to Kineton on June 3.

CLASS 66 No. 66782 has become a regular on stone trains through Woodlesford. On June 4, it was in charge of the 09.26 Hexthorpe Yard-Arcow Quarry empties.

the bright red DB Cargo livery of No. 66078 sharply contrasting with the blue and yellow of the GBRf locomotives.

On Monday, June 22,

No. 66718 Sir Peter Hendy CBE,

IT IS reported the 6M79 from

Angerstein Wharf to Bardon Hill on Tuesday, June 16, was double headed by Class 66 Nos. 66729 and 66715 after No. 66715 failed at Nunhead on train 6O59 Bardon Hill to Angerstein Wharf. CLASS 66 No. 66775 HMS Argyll left the North Walsham loading point on July 7 with 6A32, but with only nine of the normal 18 loaded condensate tanks because of siding access issues there, according to the GBRf driver. The locomotive was left parked outside the Harwich Refinery gates overnight and left again for the return trip in the early hours.
