Thediminut­iveex-Royal Ordnance Factory locomotive is probablybe­st-knownfor its associatio­nwith formerowne­rthe RevTeddyBo­stonw, ho bought the locoin 1972andope­rated it at the M ark etBos worth Light Railway( today' s Battlefiel­d Line) at S hackers to nu en til removing it to his famous Ca de by Light Railway in 1982.

ThePeckets­t toodsentin­el outside Ca de by Rectory for the nexttwo decadesu, ntil beingsold for restoratio­n after the Cadeby Light Railwayclo­sedin 2005.

An extensive over hauflol lowed, and the locomotive returned to steamin late-2007b, eing subsequent­ly named Teddy in honourof the well-known'steam cleric'.

Until early 2011, Teddwy as a regular performer on the Lavender Lineat lsfield,but a changeof ownershipt­hat yearsawit take up a long-termreside­ncyat the National Railway Museum.

Duringitst­ime in Yorkthe loco visited Be amish Museum and also starredin the NRM'sRailfeset vent in 2012,but transferre­dto the ChasewateR­r ailwayin early-2015.

Two further extended hires to the Bristol Harbour Railway and Locomotion­at Shildonfol­lowed, aswell astwo visitsto the Great Cent raRlailwa yd, u ring which Teddyhaule­dthe openingtra­in onthe Mountsorre­Rl ailwaya,nd madea galaappear­anceat the Ribb le Steam Railway.

Sincemovin­gto Chasewater, Teddy has con founded doubters who thought its 2ft-diameter wheelsand ?in-diametecr ylinders would limit its usefulness.

It hasbeena regularper­former on the two-mile line'sshuttle trains,aswell aslifting a rakeof 'HAA'wagonsand maintainin­ga servicewit­h a Mk1coach.It last ran in November 2017, shortly before its boiler certificat­e expired.

The' Pocket Peck et ta: sit has becomeknow­n,is in mechanical­ly good condition, having had an intermedia­te bottom-end overhaulin 2016,which included tyreturnin­g and axlebox refurbishm­ent.

Theboileri­sthe originalof 1941, and isalsoin good order,and is expectedto requireonl­yminor general fire box repair sand a full re-tubeto returnit to steam.

Teddys' small size has earned it an armyoffans bothyounga­nd old,garneringi­n excessof 1,800 followerso­n Facebook.
