THAT’S MY GIRL
Lady Louise Windsor, 20, is Edward and Sophie’s eldest child and the mother-daughter duo have a very close bond (the royal couple also share a son – James, Viscount Severn, 16).
Louise was born prematurely, weighing just 4lb 9oz, and she also su ered a rare eye condition called esotropia which required multiple surgeries to correct. Now, she’s a thriving young lady, following in the footsteps of both the Prince and Princess of Wales, by studying at St Andrews University in Scotland.
As well as her English studies, Louise has dipped her toe into the world of work. It has been reported that she has had a summer job when she’s back home, working in a garden centre close to Bagshot Park. There’s no doubt where she gets her dedication from - her hardworking parents and grandparents.
Sophie champions her daughter leading a normal life and in an interview, she once spoke about her children’s upbringing within the royal family: “Certainly when they were very young, we tried to keep them out of it. Only because for their sakes, to grow up as normally as possible we felt was quite important.” Going on to say: “And they’re going to have to go out and get a job and earn a living later on in life and if they’ve had a normal a start in life they possibly can get, then hopefully that will stand them in good stead.”
Louise has inherited a passion for the traditional pastime of carriage driving from her late grandfather, Prince Philip. She even entered a competition at the Royal Windsor Horse Show 2023, where her proud parents watched on along with the rest of the crowds.
