The Rugby Paper

POOL A:

-

ARGENTINA:

Dangerous outsiders who will be inspired by the occasion although this is possibly the toughest pool to progress from. Argentina are always competitive but the introduction of Juan Imhoff and Mattias Moroni offers up the stardust they have probably lacked on the World Series recently. Look out also for the American-raised former decathlete and gridiron tyro Axel Muller, another exceptional athlete.

Key man: Juan Imhoff.

BRAZIL:

Rank outsiders with realistically no chance of progressing but it’s important that Brazil come to their own party, relish the role of underdogs and give a good account of themselves. Good ball handlers, the Brazilians are short on power and gas and, of course, experience. Coach Andre Romagnoll has been working hard on their defence, probably with good reason.

Key man: Moises Duqe

FIJI:

Undoubtedly the favourites after an impressive World Series win, Fiji have pace to burn everywhere plus the handling skills of the Harlem Globetrotters. Vitally, coach Ben Ryan has also got them organised and worked hard on their fitness. Look out for the incredible Leone Nakarawa while Samisoni Viriviri is another standout and skipper Osea Kolinisau is the linchpin

Key man: Osea Kolinisau

USA:

High octane squad of massive athletic ability and strike power that can occasionally blow hot and cold. There is nobody quicker in rugby than Calvin Isles and Perry Baker. Chris Wyles is no slouch and Super Bowl winner Nate Ebner is an exceptional athlete. Pulling the strings though is Madison Hughes, left, with his rugby nous garnered at Sevens nursery Wellington College. Key man: Madison Hughes
