McCafferty steps in
NEW Zealand’s hopes of creating a global season in which everyone but them makes concessions hit another buffer this week when Premier Rugby chief executive Mark McCafferty ruled out the English clubs supporting a switch to summer rugby.
McCafferty said there would be no matches in June, July and August as advocated by New Zealand’s plan for a global season. Instead, he suggested an end to “unstructured” discussions and called for major stakeholders to meet in one room.
