Ten-try Knights build up for big test at Exiles

- Paul Jarvis - Doncaster

DONCASTER will travel to London Irish for the start of the Championship season high on confidence after a ten-try demolition of Darlington MP yesterday.

Despite their efforts the visitors were never in the game and they found themselves on the back foot from the off as Tyson Lewis scored the opening try of the game inside the first minute.

Paul Jarvis was next on the scoreboard with a jinking run on 15th minute and Lewis’ second nine minutes later made it 19-0.

The Knights ended up leading 26-6 at half-time after Harry Allen crashed over at the back of a powerful driving lineout.

Allen got things going in the second half with a carbon copy of his first try and when Jarvis matched Lewis with a second try they’d hit the 40-point mark.

Simon Humberstone concluded a length-of-thefield move that saw carries from Hayes, Clark and Alesana Tuilagi and, when Sam Edgerley ran in from 80 yards from a stolen lineout, the hosts had their half-century.

But, keen to build as much confidence as possible ahead of their trip to the Madjeski next week, the Knights kept their foot on the gas and they added two more tries.

The first saw Mat Clark take possession from James Fitzpatrick and break through a tackle to gallop in before Sean Scanlon and Lloyd Hayes interlinked to see the former touch down.
