Plymouth pushed hard as penalties mount

- ■ By PADDY MARSH

ALBION made it two from two at home this season with a narrow bonus point win at Brickfields.

This defeat for Rosslyn Park means they are still looking for their first win of the season, but they fully deserved the losing bonus point.

Plymouth head coach Dan Parkes said: “I was pleased with the win, but we made it hard for ourselves by giving away far too many penalties.”

Plymouth opened the scoring when referee Dan Parrott awarded an already dominant pack a penalty try. Fly-half Kieran Hallett added the extras and then sliced through the Park defence for Albion’s second try, which he converted.

Park opened their account when hooker Todd Gleave finished off a catch-and-drive move, with fly-half Harry Leonard converting.

Plymouth’s third try was claimed by flanker Rupert Cooper, before Park finished the half strongly.

They added a second Greave try, converted by Leonard, who had earlier kicked a penalty.

Park dominated the third quarter of the game but were unable to turn pressure into points.

Plymouth secured the try-bonus late on when winger Robin Wedlake crossed wide out, with Hallett duly adding the conversion.

Park got back within six with a Leonard penalty but Plymouth managed to withstand a late rally from their visitors.
