National League 3 South West

-

CAMBORNE showed their rivals they are a force to be reckoned with after recording a 41-17 demolition of Hornets.

The Cornwall-based league new boys made it three wins from three despite Kieran Wood scoring the opener for Hornets.

This was followed by tries from David Mankee and Taff Roko to put their side 15-5 up at the break.

Roko scored his second try just a minute into the second half before David Roberts and Rhys Brownfield put the league leaders 34-5 ahead.

Charlie Carter ran over a consolation try before debutant Josh Semmens finished his side’s scoring and then Joe Smth ran over Hornet’s third.

Lydney were left kicking themselves after

Old Redcliffians ran out 15-12 winners with the visitors’ kicker missing a late penalty which could have drawn them level. Paul Scott scored both of the Lydney tries with Josh Dunn adding the extras. However, the Old Reds matched the try count and crucially slotted a penalty as well.

Dunn had the chance to level the match late on with a penalty of his own but missed as his side suffered their first defeat and Old Reds made it three from three.

Salisbury put in a strong second-half performance to run out 27-22 winners over Bracknell after finding themselves 19-10 down at the break. Their tries came courtesy of Jon Goldsmith and Tom Ranaboldo to put the game on a knife edge.

A successful penalty for Bracknell looked to have settled the match in their favour until with the last play when Robbie Keith played the ball through Dave Tonge for the winning try.

Newton Abbot recorded their first win of the season with a 23-12 victory over

Cleve with tries from Callum Gill and Martin Browne along with two Rob Avery-Wright penalties. Cleve tries came courtesy of Sam Poustri and Alex Kilbane. In the day’s other games

Bournemouth ran over five tries to win 44-26 against Brixham with four of them scored by Gareth Roberts.
