Belief in Dragons is high now says Jones

- ■ By JAMES LLOYD

KINGSLEY Jones hailed his team’s desire as the Dragons stunned Brive with a late storm of tries at Rodney Parade.

Brive led 16-13 at the hour mark before Dragons finished with a roar, scoring four tries in 18 pulsating minutes.

Lewis Evans and Cory Hill battled their way over within minutes of each other before Hallam Amos and Adam Warren crossed late on to wrap up a bonuspoint win.

Head coach Jones said: “We said it would be tough for 60 minutes. They are a physical team. They were excellent in the contact area with massive collisions - but they didn’t touch the ball for the first 15 minutes.

“The biggest positive is that we lost the lead and kept going and believing. The bench came on and we got the momentum and used it to keep going.

“We haven’t been able to do that this season so we’re pleased with a bonus-point win.”

Dragons raced into a 13-0 lead through successive Nick MacLeod penalties and Rynard Landman’s converted try but Brive replied with the classy Thomas Larenjeira collecting his own grubber kick to score at the posts.

His 59th minute penalty to take the lead awoke the Dragons as captain Evans and lock Hill both crossed within three minutes of each other.

Sam Beard’s clever kick found Amos free to score before Warren punched a hole through tiring defence.
