Palframan try puts end to fight back

- ■ By SAM FERGUSON

LONDON Irish showed their superiority from the off with early tries from Ross Neal and Ben Ransom giving them a comfortable buffer in the first half until Kieran Williams hit back for Ospreys on the stroke of half-time.

Ospreys captain Rob McCusker added another try in the second half but scores from Senitiki Nayalo and Richard Palframaan made it safe for Irish.

Irish dominated the first 30 minutes, with flyhalf Grieg Tonks controlling the game well and added a conversion to the early scores for a 12-0 lead.

Ospreys battled back late in the half with some good touch kicking from Luke Price, one of which leading to a neat move for centre Williams to cross the line from a lineout deep in Irish territory.

Irish dominated most of the second half, with Nayalo’s try a just reward in the 47th minute. Tonks missed the conversion kick but kicked a penalty in the 52nd minute to make the score 20-7.

Former Wales back row McCusker scored in the 69th minute to give the home side hope but Irish dominance told and they upped the pressure to score in the final minute through Palframan, denying the home side the consolation of a losing bonus point.
