Rampant Chester do the business

- ■ By BEN JAMES

CHESTER extended the gap over South Leicester as they came out with a winning bonus-point in a scintillating 11-try midtable thriller.

Star man Andrew Baston grabbed two tries with Craig Ross, Liam Gill, Sean Green and Ross White all on the scoresheet for the hosts.

The scoring began early on with Chester earning a penalty try on eight minutes before Baston forced his way over from a maul four minutes later.

Rickie Aley got South Leicester off the mark with a penalty before Chester stretched their lead further with a try in the corner from Ross.

Ryan Hough scored the visitors’ first try from a quick tap before Baston bagged a second.

The visitors began the second half better with Gareth Clarke going over from an intercept, but the Chester maul soon proved dominant again with Gill on hand.

Green was on hand to finish a break in the corner on 55 minutes before South Leicester scored from a maul of their own on the hour through Adam Johnson.

White capped a flowing backs move to complete the Chester scoring with another try ten minutes from time, before Aaron Martin had the final say for the visitors as he finished off a cross-kick at the death.
