Frost is hat-trick hero for Taunton

- ■ By DAVID WILLIAMS

TAUNTON Titans continued their fine start to the season with this narrow victory over Canterbury but they were made to work for their win, with centre Dan Frost grabbing the decisive try seven minutes from time.

Canterbury started well, front row Tom Rogers diving over the line inside the first five minutes with fly-half Ollie Best adding the extras.

It stayed that way until the 12-minute mark when Frost got his first try of the game crossing the whitewash, only for Gary Kingdom to miss the posts with his conversion.

Best then missed a penalty and Taunton took advantage of the error, outside-centre Nick Mason diving over to make it 10-7 with Kingdom again wayward with the extras.

Best added a threepointer to level things up before that man Frost again proved too elusive for the Canterbury defence as he ran in his second score.

Canterbury went ahead at the start of the second period as first Hugh McCormickHuston and then Tyler Edwards dotted down, Best converting the first try to make it 22-15.

A Kingdom penalty narrowed the gap before Frost showed his class to steal the points at the death and seal his hattrick in the process.
