Messum leads Chinnor assault

- ■ By LUKE JARMYN

IF ANYONE was going to stop table-topping Chinnor it wasn’t struggling Barnes who folded in the face of a nine-try physical onslaught.

Greg Goodfellow offloaded to Danny Barnes, who dived over the line to give Chinnor the lead in the second phase of play before a penalty try from a scrum offence showed the problems Barnes were going to suffer up front, Jonathan Hopkin converting.

After the half-hour mark the game opened up and first Tom O’Toole and then Ciaran Smyth danced over the line for Barnes, who briefly held the lead with O’Toole converting his own try.

But on the stroke of half-time Chinnor centre Alaifatu Fatialofa found room to dot down.

After the interval Chinnor pressed their advantage, replacement Kieran Goss securing the bonus point.

No.8 George Messum was then pushed over before lock Chukwuma Osazuwa used all of his power to go over the whitewash.

O’Toole pulled a try back on the hour, before Messum got his second.

Barnes got their own try bonus point when Jamie Collins dotted down, while in the dying minutes Bevan Armitage and then Thomas Prop rounded of Chinnor’s scoring.
