>> Chiefs eye Ben Morgan
EXETER CHIEFS have got their eye on a double Gloucester swoop with Ben Morgan now firmly in their sights along with Matt Kvesic.
I exclusively revealed on September 11 that England flanker Kvesic, in the last year of his deal with the Cherry and Whites, was on the wanted list of the Chiefs next season. Now I have been told that The Chiefs would like England No 8 Morgan to join him at Sandy Park when his contract expires at the end of this campaign. Morgan is one of a whole host of Cherry and Whites who hasn’t yet agreed an extension to remain with the club when next season kicks off. The 27-year-old has won 31 caps for England but has been out favour since their World Cup exit at the hands of Australia at Twickenham last October.
He has so far been overlooked by Eddie Jones and could be interested in kick starting his career which has appeared to stall at Kingsholm over the last year.
Morgan, who joined his boyhood club four years ago from the Scarlets, would be able to speak to the Chiefs from the New Year in line with Premiership rules. Signing either Kvesic,
below, who won the last of three England caps against Wales in May or Morgan would a serious statement for last season’s Premiership finalists.
But a double signing would be a major coupe for the club who want to become a major force in European rugby over the next few years.
