Exmouth up and running in derby triumph

EXMOUTH celebrated a first win this season after a dominant second half put their old rivals away.
After a slow start, Barnstaple snatched the lead just before half-time but despite playing half the second period with 14 men because of yellow cards for George Savage and Matt Ryan, Exmouth outscored the visitors by 21 points.
Exmouth made a bright start and were rewarded when Harvey Ridgeway scored from Henry Goldson’s clever kick through.
Barnstaple got themselves into the game with two Jordan Petherbridge penalties before George Meadows made it 10-6.
Barnstaple finished the half on top, though, and went ahead when Jake Murphy popped a pass to Linford Brock to score wide on the right and Petherbridge converted.
Meadows levelled the scores in the second half with a penalty and then combined with Mark

Barnstaple made it 20-20 in the 57th minute when Ben Hilton stepped out of a ruck to score and Petherbridge converted – but from then on it was all Exmouth.
Prop Isaac Dalton smuggled the ball over the try-line, then a Petherbridge kick was charged down and the ball looped to Wathes for the bonuspoint try.
Richard Cady then made Exmouth’s first win safe with a couple of penalties.
