Barnes rammed by returning Conor

Reding’sians.. 33 Barnes .............. 12

- By MATTHEW MCCRORY

REDINGENSIANS Rams beat Barnes with their most convincing performance of the season.

Rams’ Conor Corrigan marked his first appearance of the campaign due to injury in style, scoring with only three minutes played, and Spike Chandler converted.

The first 15 minutes were dominated by Redingensians and although Barnes stayed strong, they eventually conceded a further three points to Chandler’s penalty.

Barnes came back with their own try immediately after the restart as uncertain line-out play saw hooker Ed Alterac produce an interception score.

Their second try was soon to follow. Tom O’Toole was quick to take advantage of an overlap and scored in the left corner. He converted his own try to give Barnes the half-time advantage.

The final 40 minutes were more one-sided with Rams stationed in the visitors’ half.

Chandler re-established the hosts’ lead with three successive penalties and a conversion after Corrigan scored his second try – pacing his way through half the Barnes squad and flying under the posts.

Jak Rossiter completed the scoring for the Reading side with a try in the right corner just before the final whistle and Chandler converted.
