OEs still perfect as Hawks downed

Henley ............ 20 O Elthamians 30

- By NICK PITSON

OLD Elthamians kept their 100 percent record with a bonus-point win over a spirited Henley.

The visitors were clinical and scored after just three minutes when James Golledge crossed following a Tom White miss-pass.

After a period of Henley pressure, George Jackson took a quick penalty and scored Henley’s first try.

Henley’s defence has gifted opponents a number of tries this term and did so again when an inside pass saw Mike Denbee break though and feed Lewis Brown to score under the posts.

Jackson kicked a penalty for the Hawks but a James Comben chip was blocked and winger Golledge picked up and ran 40 metres to score.

Jackson then kicked another penalty for the Hawks and they levelled the scores when their tried and tested driving maul earned a penalty try.

But OEs showed why they are flying high as a try from Dom Lespierre following weak defence and a conversion from White put them in front, before White added a penalty.

Henley turned down a kick at goal and a bonus point at the death but another mistake from the lineout meant their efforts came to nothing and the visitors saw out time for a comfortable victory.
