Hertford enjoy trip to the Channel Islands

DESPITE being down to 13 for part of the game league leaders Hertford proved too strong for third place
Guernsey, beating the Channel Islanders 17-31 away at Foote’s Lane to maintain their hold at the top of the table.
The visitors opened up a 0-17 gap early in the first half through tries from Josh Corcoran and Ben Creasey both converted by Sean Taylor who also slotted a penalty. Guernsey however hit back just before the break with tries from Tom Ceillan converted by Owen Thomas and Jason Batiste to keep them in the hunt at 12-17 before Corcoran went in for his second converted by Taylor for 12-24 at the break.
In the second half Creasey crossed again converted by Taylor before Guernsey fashioned a consolation try through Adam Nixon.
Second-place Wimbledon
kept the pressure up with a five-try 34-17 win at home to Amersham &
Chiltern. Roy Godfrey, Tommy Moore, Jack Revell, Josh Charles and Rhys Morgan were the tryscorers with Brian Coke successful with two conversions and a penalty and Morgan converting the final try. Alex Harland went in for two for the visitors both converted by Cam McDonald who also added a penalty. Tonbridge Juddians were 16-47 winners at
Colchester running in a total of seven tries, Colchester’s points coming from the boot of David Higgins and a converted penalty try.
Westcombe Park beat Dorking 59-12 at Goddington Dene. Ben Hannah, Jimi Stanford, Alex Campbell, Greg Saffery, Tommy Gray, Ant Hitchcock and Bradley Batup were the home try-scorers plus a penalty try, all eight converted by James Cameron who also slotted a penalty. Cameron Osborne and Mike Terelak crossed for
the visitors with Matt Noble hitting one conversion.
Chichester went down 12-20 at home to Southend
Saxons, Taff Davies with four penalties bagging all the home points.
Shelford were 13-8 winners at home to Sutton &
Epsom. With just a try apiece Dave Hill for the home side and Andy Matthews for the visitors, the main damage was done by the boot of Simon Hrbek. Finally Guildford beat Westcliff 38-18.
