STAR man James Davies scored 27 points to set the tone for Dunvant as he led them to an emphatic 72-17 win over Cardiff Met at Broadacre.

The Students were no match for the home side as Davies scored one try as well as kicking two penalties and eight conversions to send Dunvant level on their point with their opponents in the league table.

A brace of tries from Ashley Taylor, both converted by Alex Seers, had seen the visitors trail by just three points early in the first-half but the hosts, inspired by Davies, pulled away with ten tries of their own.

Pontypool were pushed hard as they came from behind to continue their perfect start in a cagey 1310 victory over Bedlinog.

A second-half try from man of the match Ben Parry was the difference for the hosts after Ian Smerdon’s try and Dan Parry’s penalty had seen the visitors lead 10-6.

They now sit nine points clear at the top of the table following eight wins from their first eight matches.

Second place Tata Steel recovered from two recent losses to sweep aside Newcastle Emlyn 52-29 to keep up the pressure on the unbeaten league leaders.

A solitary try from James Roberts was enough to help Glynneath to victory as they scraped past struggler Glamorgan Wanderers 16-12 in a tight encounter.

Wanderers outscored their hosts from the tee but Roberts’ denied the visitors only a second league win of the season and meant they left Abernant Park with just a losing bonus point.

Beddau bagged a bonus point by half-time in their 29-14 win at Skewen to keep them in fouth place behind Narbeth, who continued their climb towards the top of the league as they ran out 37-8 winners away to Newbridge.
