Rhydyfelin top of One East with Scott’s hat-trick

A SCOTT Pritchard hattrick secured Rhydyfelin a bonus point win to keep them top of the East division in a ten-try demolition of Blaenavon.

Tries from hooker Pritchard, Kevin Briggs, Mark Tyler, Dai Gratton, Ross Lucas, Fforest Quirke, Chris Tottle and Luke Rees sent the league leaders on their way to a 62-5 scoreline, though rivals Penallta were not to be outdone as they romped to an 88-12 win away to Brecon. Llanelli Wanderers closed the gap on West leaders Kidwelly to just one point as they edged out 19-18 winners in the top of the table clash. Six penalties from Gar Rees secured Kidwelly a losing bonus to keep them ahead of their rivals.

In the North division, league leaders Pwllheli extended their gap at the top with a 71-3 victory over bottom-placed Ruthin.

Nick Butterwort­h and Kalim Kelemete each bagged three tries each with Huw Williams grabbing a brace and Robin Hughes Jones, Daio Brunelli and Osian Parry-Jones, who slotted over eight conversion­s, completing the scoring.

Second-place Bala went down 17-13 away to Mold while Caernarfon saw off strugglers COBRA 53-5.

Llantwit Fadre secured their first win in the East Central division as they picked up a bonus point win away to Rumney. Sol Matthews, Wayne Dacruz and Chris Harris all scored for the hosts but it was not enough as the visitors ran out 27-22 victors. Elsewhere league leaders
