Leading 9-0 at half-time after two penalties and a drop-goal from Carlo Cana, Zebre pieced together attacking phases and eventually extending their lead through a third Cana penalty to start the second half.

Ross Ford hit back from two yards followed by Murray McCallum, with Sam Hidalgo-Clyde converting, which looked to have saved Edinburgh’s blushes, taking a 14-12 lead into the final 15 minutes.
