Lions edge home in seven-try thriller

- ■ By ANDY MOORE

LEICESTER Lions held on to take a bonus-point win over Otley and keep their promotion hopes intact.

Devon Constant powered over in the corner to give the Lions the perfect start on three minutes.

Otley responded with a penalty through Sam Hudson, before James Grayson increased the Lions lead with a drop goal, and soon after Hudson added another penalty.

The home team extended their lead through Oliver Tapscott, with Grayson adding the conversion.

Otley hit back as Paul Petchey found the space to go in for a try in the corner with Hudson converting, but lost Luke Chadwick to the sin bin.

The Lions took control of the game as Drew Rudkin touched down from a catch and drive for the line with Grayson converting, before he himself went over for the extra bonus point.

The second half produced some excellent rugby with Otley’s Thomas Hodson out-running the Lions defence with Hudson converting. The Lions then had Constant sin-binned to ensure an exciting finish.

Petchey added his second try of the game to reduce the deficit to four but Grayson’s composed kick, right on full-time, ensured a thrilling win for the Lions.
