French find a new star

-

BAPTISTE Serin is a name we could be hearing plenty of over the next few years judged by the impact the 22-year-old Bordeaux-Begles scrum-half had after coming off the bench in France’s hard-fought 2419 loss to New Zealand in Paris last weekend.

Serin’s diagonal run from a tapped-penalty, followed by a reverse pass straight into the breadbasket of Louis Picamoles opened-up New Zealand like a surgeon’s scalpel. With the All Black defensive line duped the No.8 strolled – but the confidence and elan of the wiry Serin was what lingered in the mind.
