Tainton: I thought try was legal

-

BRISTOL acting boss Mark Tainton rued a disallowed try by Jon Fisher that could have swung the game. He said: “The try disallowed and then a penalty try awarded to them is a 14 point swing. We listened to the TMO and he said he couldn’t see much wrong with it.

“But the referee makes his decision and we have to abide by it.”

Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys believes Gloucester are better than their first half display in this bonus point victory.

He said: “There is no doubt the first half was not as good as we would have liked but that is credit to the way Bristol came at us.

“In the second-half we did much better, got field position and created pressure and took the opportunities that came our way.

“We were conscious that Bristol were striving hard to move up the table. A mark of any team that is successful is every week they are desperate to win and I thought today we showed that desperation in the second-half.”
