If anything, new boy Charnley shaded this contest. He was one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise awful Sale display.

The former Wigan Warrior was powerful in contact, defended well and appeared to be getting a firm grasp of the game.

Former Bath wing Woodburn was also solid throughout but perhaps should have made more of the opportunities the forwards presented.
