Barnes’ survival hopes took another hit, following last week’s 49-3 thrashing by Old Elthamians, and they will wonder how to regain form after a tenth league defeat of the season.

Canterbury piled on the attacking pressure early on and in the 16th minute Kenny managed to score the opening try, via a maul over the line.

Barnes responded with a successful penalty from Tom O’Toole but another Canterbury score from Beaumont made it 12-3 after 21 minutes.
