Bridge overcome Dunvant in battle of strugglers

A BONUS point 33-10 victory ensured Newbridge climbed off the foot of the table and consigned defeated opponents Dunvant to their place at the bottom of the league.

Tries from Garyn Lucas, Mike Powell and Tom Watkins were enough to help Newbridge to just their third win of the campaign which moves them ahead of Dunvant, who scored their points through Mark Robbins and Mitchell Ford.

The Broadacre based side now sit three points adrift of Newbridge, having played one game more than their rivals.

Leaders Pontypool survived a scare against second-placed Narberth to maintain their unbeaten record with an 18-13 ill-tempered win.

A first loss of the season had looked on the cards as Narberth led 10-6 at the break and then 13-11 with just over five minutes to go.

But Rhodri Usher scored late on with Matthew Jones converting to stretch their lead at the top to 12 points and ensure their perfect record remained intact. Bedlinog edged out

Eight points from the boot of Ben Grezica as well as tries from Luke Morgan and Andrew Murphy helped the Foxes move level on points with fourthplac­ed Beddau.

Myles Churcher scored the solitary try for the Wanderers, who now sit just five points above the bottom of the table, while Luke Fish added 11 points from the tee to secure a losing bonus point. Skewen came away from Glynneath with a 19-10 victory which saw the visitors leapfrog their opponents in the league.
