Tandy brings back his big guns

- ■ By NICK VERDIER

OSPREYS sit pretty at the top of Pool 2 with a perfect four wins from four, but head coach Steve Tandy wants his side to finish the job in style against Lyon today and book their place in the quarter-finals.

The Welsh region have earned four scoring bonus points in the process, notching up a staggering 206 points while conceding just 23.

Recording six bonuspoint victories would be some achievement and Tandy said: “We’ve put ourselves in a strong position in the pool with our performances over the first four rounds but now it’s important we finish the job off.

“There’s been a lot spoken and written this week about records, wins in a row, bonus points, whatever, but that’s all just noise coming from outside of our environment.

“The only thing we are focussing on is getting a good performance from the group.

“All that matters over the next two weekends is making sure we don’t waste the hard work of the first four rounds, that we do what we need to get over the line for the last eight.

“Lyon are not going to just allow us to have our own way. They are big and physical and, with the benefit of a weekend off, will be fresh.”

Tandy has called on all his big guns with Alun-Wyn Jones, Dan Biggar and Justin Tipuric all starting.

Ospreys also welcome back wing sensation Keelan Giles, who has recovered from a shoulder injury. Bath-bound openside Sam Underhill is on the bench.

Delon Armitage is absent from Lyon’s lineup as he awaits a disciplinary hearing.
