Sedgley Park ..5 Hinckley .......... 26

- ■ By GEOFF LIGHTFOOT

SEDGLEY Park’s promotion hopes took another hit as they went down at home to Hinckley, with the East Midlands side taking all five points.

Sedge started the afternoon in third spot, but have now sunk to fifth leaving them with much hard work to do if they have any hope of challenging for promotion.

Hinckley meanwhile moved past Tynedale into eighth after their game fell victim to the weather.

It did not begin well for the home side as Alex Salt forced his way over from a rolling maul, Joe Glover slotting the conversion.

With the Hinckley pack looking supreme, another drive to the line and some swift handling created the opportunity for Mitchell Lamb to add a second for a 12-0 half-time lead.

In the second half, Sedgley Park at last got their game going as Max Skofic went over for their only try.

But with the home side reduced to 13 as Steve Collins and Richard Lapori saw yellow, Hinckley took control.

Again from a driving maul Glenn Murray, came in at pace as the ball was swung wide, going over for the third, Glover was on hand with the conversion. From the final play of the game Sedge lost the ball and from the hack on Steve Harvey won the chase for the touch down, Mark Lord adding the conversion.
