Bedlinog undone by Burton inspired fightback
GLYNNEATH came from 12-0 down at half time to record an 18-12 win over
Bedlinog. An unconverted try from scrum-half Alex Burton and a penalty try, either side of two Jed O’Reilly penalties, gave the eighth-placed team the victory over the side three places above them.
In a clash between the league’s top and bottom sides, leaders Pontypool maintained their unbeaten record with a 34-10 win over Dunvant.
The game was marred by two big second half punchups that saw both sides reduced to 13 men at one point. Dunvant scored a try through scrum-half Ben Ley and a drop-goal from centre Rhodri Wall but were always behind and Pooler had the bonus point sewn up by half time.
Tries came from Nathan Brooks, Jamie Jeune, Ben Egan, Clayton Gullis, Ryan Harford and Marc Thorley, while Matthew Jones added two conversions.
Beddau secured a bonus point in their 26-10 win over Cardiff Met.
Joe Casella, Ryan Bean, Tyler Wells and Adam Ashford all crossed, with Hywel Chatham adding three conversions. Tom Benjamin scored a late consolation try for the visitors.
Narberth overcame Glamorgan Wanderers 34-11 thanks to tries from Liam Hutchings (two), Jack Parkinson, Callum Tree and Patrick Roberts.
Newcastle Emlyn came back from 11th-placed
Newbridge with a 27-5 win. The hosts went into a 5-3 lead through wing James Beighton’s try after Dan Davies had opened the scoring from the tee. The visitors went on to score four unanswered tries through Tom Powell, Gareth Bennett, Shaun Leonard and Mike Jones, with Davies and Leonard registering one conversion each.
Skewen defeated secondplaced Tata Steel 19-12, consigning the visitors to only their fourth league defeat of the season. The hosts were indebted to tries from Aled Mogford, Matthew Billett and Oliver Thompson.
