Mallinder hails his dominant forwards

-

NORTHAMPTON boss Jim Mallinder was pleased his side were able to maintain the momentum they have generated over recent weeks.

Despite being out of the Champions Cup, the Saints secured their fourth successive win to continue their recent resurgence.

“I thought it was a good performance,” Mallinder said. “Certainly in the first half we attacked with some real good intent, managed to get some good front foot ball and dominated.

“We were put under pressure at the beginning of the second half by a strong Castres, but I was pleased with how we finished the game.”

Mallinder added: “We knew they were hoping we would underestimate them, put out a poor team and not have any motivation to win.

“I’m pleased we didn’t allow them to do that and produced a performance in front of our fans. To win games of rugby, you need to win the breakdown and we did that. We got on the front foot and created good ball for our half-backs.”
