Clabby ban puts Wales in its place

-

THE UK Anti-Doping list of banned sports people now includes 15 registered Welsh rugby players. The latest, Kurt Clabby of Welsh Premiership club Bedwas, has been given a fouryear ban after missing a drugs test.

The UKAD chief executive Nicole Sapstead described Clabby’s decision to evade a sample collection as “not just a serious breach of the rules but it also goes against the spirit of sport and his responsibility as a sports person”.

The WRU said their anti-doping education ‘crosses all levels of Welsh rugby’. They also said: “There is no place for doping in Welsh rugby.”

Alarmingly, there is a place for doping in Welsh rugby, as UKAD’s figures show.
