Villagers deliver thrashing to keep title alive

Canterbury then took the initiative as Glyn Edwards scored.

This spurred Chinnor back into action and from a 30-metre line-out, flanker Alex Bradley carved his way expertly through the defence to score near the posts.

And from the restart Canterbury kicked the ball deep into opposition territory for Max Cantwell to score the final try, converted by Will Hilton. CHINNOR’S title challenge remained on course as they downed Canterbury.

Kieran Thompson put the visitors ahead with a neat try but Chinnor responded well as a powerful break forward was too much for the away side to handle, and Ali Bone crashed over for Chinnor’s first try – unconverte­d.

And ten minutes later, Kieran Goss’ counteratt­ack took play into Canterbury’s half where Luke Peters picked a good angle to penetrate the defence and score.

This was soon followed by another Bone break allowing Jay Tyack to crash over before half-time to give them a 12-point lead.

Chinnor began the sceond half well, putting Canterbury under pressure, as Charlie Broughton cut through for a try.

A yellow card for Canterbury gave Chinnor a penalty, taken quickly to put Daniel Barnes over.
