All-change for England despite rout of French

-

ENGLAND U18s made a winning start to their season after a seven-try 43-14 victory over France in Aylesbury.

In tough conditions, the hosts deservedly led 12-7 at half-time after a try each from full-back Elliott Obatoyinbo and wing Cadan Murley.

England’s dominance continued as John Fletcher’s side ran in five more tries with Cameron Redpath, Charlie Wright, Tom Seabrook, Ted Hill and Murley all crossing.

Head Coach Fletcher said: “I think the score is a fair reflection of how the game went. When we had the ball we were pleased with lots of the decisions and without the ball we were physical and didn’t allow a good French side to get on top.”

Fletcher’s side have turned their attention on Scotland with a clash at Preston Grasshoppers RFC this afternoon (2pm).

They have made 12 changes to the line-up with five players set to make their debuts.

“The performance against France was pleasing however we know there are lots of areas we can improve on,” added Fletcher.

“A key focus is to adapt in both attack and defence and, hopefully, we can make the most of the opportunities in front of us on Sunday.

“Scotland have always been fierce competitors and we know we will have to be on the top of our game.” Teams: ENGLAND: Hughes; Reed, Morris, Redpath, Murley; Hardwick, Fox; Head, Dolly, Heyes; Tunney, Scott; Aaron Hinkley, Wright, Basham
