Woodhouse and the Kildunnes on fire
showed great character at the Rosslyn Park Sevens on Friday to win both the U14s and the U18s Plate tournaments.
Both teams lost their elimination rounds matches at the start of day two but followed up with four wins to make sure they’d return to Yorkshire with two trophies. The U14s beat Marlborough College 38-21 in their final while the U18s stunned
Wellington 19-14 in theirs. To top it all, former pupil Ellie Kildunne was the star of the show in the Girls AASE tournament helping Hartpury College retain their undisputed crown. “The U18s performance against Wellington was an outstanding result for us,” Woodhouse Grove head of rugby Adrian Sweeney told
TRP. “They’ve had a good season but picking up a national trophy will mean a lot for the school.
“Ellie joined Hartpury to further her rugby career and I’m delighted everyone is seeing how good she is. Her younger brother Sam was in the U14s team so it’ll be a very happy Kildunne household I’m sure.” The U14s Cup was won by
Wimbledon College who beat Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf 26-10 thanks to four tries from speedster Cassius Cleaves. St John’s Leatherhead held off a second half fightback by Cheltenham College to win the U18 Vase. Both teams scored four tries but it came down to the last kick of the game with Cheltenham missing a touchline conversion in windy condition to go down 26-24.
Epsom College dominated the U18 Bowl final beating Stockport Grammar School 31-0. There was a battle of giants in the Colts final with a last-gasp try handing Wellington College a 19-14 over arch-rivals Millfield. Amman Valley claimed their third consecutive Girls title beating Blundell’s 12-10.
