Is Vui staying or going?

- LUKE JARMYN

THERE is uncertainty over the future of Worcester’s Chris Vui after boss Gary Gold said he believes Vui is “already committed” elsewhere for next season.

Samoan international Vui, below, has been a constant for the West Midland’s side since arriving on a short-term deal in December and insists he has “not signed anything so far”.

Since recovering from a groin operation, Vui has made the blindside flanker position his own. He made his debut in the AngloWelsh Cup clash at Cardiff in February before starting four of the side’s next five Aviva Premiership games.

Gold is keen to keep Vui but believes the forward will be heading to a new club in the summer. Gold said: “He has impressed us very much but I have reason to believe he might have signed somewhere else.

“We will have conversations but I do think he’s committed somewhere else, I think it took place before I got here. So it wasn’t anything I had a say in.

“When speaking to him I think he’s quite excited to stay in the UK and ply his trade here.”

However Vui, 24, stated that he has not put pen to paper for next season and was focused on steering second-from-bottom Warriors clear of relegation trouble.

The ex-Blues player said: “I have not signed anything so far. This year I am with Worcester and if I can help my teammates, the coaches and the community stay where we are right now then that’s what I am going to do.

“I want to try to focus on what I am trying to do here and that’s helping my team stay in the Premiership and anything that comes along it will just work out for itself.

“Worcester is a lovely city, it kind of reminds me of back home, real chilled. I’ve enjoyed every moment

and would like to stay.”
