Electrifying Adams is ready for Wales tour says Gold

- LUKE JARMYN

WORCESTER boss Gary Gold says Josh Adams is good enough to play for Wales this Summer.

The 21-year-old has been ever-present for the Warriors this season at wing or covering at full-back, and Gold believes his performances deserve an international call up.

Gold told TRP: “He has come on in leaps and bounds and has got electrifying pace from the back. He is absolutely lightning quick.

“He is a good defender and chases kicks really well so he is coming on. It will be great to see him in the mix for Wales in the summer on their tour.”

Wales tour Fiji, Samoa and Tonga this summer and with many of the first team expected to be picked for the Lions, Gold believes it is the time to blood new players.

Ex-Springbok assistant coach Gold added: “It is the perfect opportunity for Josh. It is amazing to go to the Pacific Islands and blood a few youngsters, get them to understand what international rugby is about and give them that opportunity on the big stage.

“I think he is ready now to go on a Wales tour, if you are good enough then you’re old enough and he is good enough.”

Since scoring on his first Premiership start this season away to Exeter in November, Adams has grabbed four tries in the last four games including a double in the defeat to Wasps last weekend.

Adams said: “It’s been better than expected. At the start of the season there were a few injuries so I was called up against Bath and its gone from there.

“Full-back was a fairly new position to me, especially at a higher level like the Premiership so that’s been a learning curve. The Lions tour opens up slots and to play for Wales is my dream but I know some of the other lads back home are quality players and I haven’t proven anything yet, I am still young, learning and am not by far the finished article.”
