Blackadder proud his boys passed the character test

-

BATH had to come from behind to beat Leicester yesterday and Director of rugby Todd Blackadder couldn’t have been happier.

He said: “I am just so pleased our players passed the character test. We haven’t come from behind before this season. That is what I am most proud of.

“We have been on the back foot and we had to play – we had to play well and we couldn’t go into our shells.

“We were a bit rocked early on, they got away to a fast start, but we got ourselves well and truly into game. Even at the start we were playing with tempo and I knew that if we could keep that up our reward might come at the end, which it did with our late tries.”

Meanwhile Leicester assistant coach Geordan Murphy was wondering why his players switched off.

He said: “We’re really disappointed, we had a good start and then just switched off. That kills you and it changed the momentum of the game - mistakes we haven’t made over the last eight or so weeks.

“We were probably a bit naive when Watson scored his second try. They wanted to keep the ball in play and wanted to have it in their hands causing us problems.

“We have three very difficult games ahead so it will be a shoot-fight. Everyone is hoping other teams will do them a favour, but it is in our own hands as well. I don’t ever remember it being this tight.”
