Eddie tells Watson to work on his kicking

EDDIE JONES says Anthony Watson could be the long-term successor to Mike Brown at full-back – if he sorts his kicking game out and becomes more vocal.

Watson, 23, is Bath’s firstchoic­e full-back but all 26 of his England appearance­s under Stuart Lancaster and now Jones have come on the wing.

Brown has dominated the full-back position in recent years, but will be 34 at the next World Cup and Watson, Elliot Daly, Jack Nowell and Mike Haley are some of the leading candidates to replace him.

When asked if Watson has the skills to be England full-back, Jones told TRP: “Most definitely. He needs to work on his communicat­ion skills and his kicking a bit to be a full-back, but in terms of his general skills – his high ball catching and his ability to run – he’s got that.
