Ed­die tells Wat­son to work on his kick­ing

ED­DIE JONES says An­thony Wat­son could be the long-term suc­ces­sor to Mike Brown at full-back – if he sorts his kick­ing game out and be­comes more vo­cal.

Wat­son, 23, is Bath’s firstchoice full-back but all 26 of his Eng­land ap­pear­ances un­der Stu­art Lan­caster and now Jones have come on the wing.

Brown has dom­i­nated the full-back po­si­tion in re­cent years, but will be 34 at the next World Cup and Wat­son, El­liot Daly, Jack Now­ell and Mike Haley are some of the lead­ing can­di­dates to re­place him.

When asked if Wat­son has the skills to be Eng­land full-back, Jones told TRP: “Most def­i­nitely. He needs to work on his com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and his kick­ing a bit to be a full-back, but in terms of his gen­eral skills – his high ball catch­ing and his abil­ity to run – he’s got that.
