Thrilled I’ve got the nod to help Amman become history boys

-

I HAD every intention of being on the bench whenever I played for Amman this season, but I’ve got the callup to start the WRU National Bowl final today. My jaw is fine after the blow in the semi-final and I’ve got the call-up to start on the left wing. I’m looking forward to it!

It’s very much a family affair for us with my brother on the right wing and my brother-in-law at full-back! The team have worked hard all season to get to this point and we hope we can play to the best of our ability and get the win.

The boys deserve a chance to play at Principality Stadium, but it will be a tough game against Caerphilly. They’ve done really well to get to this stage too and whoever wins will deserve it on the day. We’ve got a WhatsApp group at the club and it’s been going off all week with excitement ahead of the game. It’s like listening to a bunch of ten-year-olds going on about the World Cup final – I’ve never known them so excited!

Whatever happens though it’s going to be a great occasion because with Amman, it’s about playing with your mates. None of the boys play for money, and most of them have been doing it together for years now. If we win, this is the sort of game the boys will talk about when they’re in their old folk’s homes drinking cups of tea. It’s their chance to make history. It may never happen again for them, so I’m as excited for this game as I was for any in the past.
