Wales legend Williams set to star for boyhood club

- ■ By JAMES LLOYD

AMMAN United captain Sean Mangan is hoping Shane Williams can guide his team to Principality Stadium glory.

Wales’ record try scorer will start on the wing for his hometown club in this afternoon’s National Bowl final against Caerphilly.

And Mangan, who led his team to a 29-3 semi-final win over Cardigan, is expecting Williams to make the difference.

He said: “We cannot deny Shane’s experience and the confidence he is going to give us.

“Not every club can boast a British & Irish Lion on the wing for them. He will talk us through the day emotionally and ground us a little bit if we are too excited and keep everybody’s heads down.

“He has been there and done it.”

Caerphilly captain Gareth England is relishing the opportunity to achieve a ‘boyhood dream’ when he leads his team out on the Cardiff turf.

“I am definitely excited,” he said. “It will be a first experience for me here. It is a boyhood dream as a kid to run out here at this stadium for your home club, I could not ask for anything more really.

“We have a few buses coming down here Sunday. It will be great for the club and the town.”
