Bedlinog ........ 12 Pontypool ...... 31

-

PONTYPOOL put the final stamp on their National Championship title as they made it 21 wins from 22 games, and broke through the 800-point barrier with their triumph at Bedlinog.

The home side took the lead with a try from hooker Nathan Huish and were still in touch at the break after wing Rhys Walker had crossed for a second to cut the gap to two points.

The champions, playing down the hill with the wind in the first half, held their nerve and hit back with tries from lock Ashley Gibson and a drop goal and two penalties from Kieran Meek.

Bedlinog lost flanker Luke Morgan and No. 8 Andrew Murphy to yellow cards either side of the interval and were forced to play with 13 men for five minutes.

Pooler took their chance and a penalty try and a Marc Thorley touchdown took them clear.

Ben Sparks added the bonus-point try before the end to take them past the 800-point landmark to complete a very successful season.
