Six of the best for in-form Tigers

- ■ By ANDREW SMITH

SHEFFIELD Tigers continue their’ remarkable turnaround with a six-try demolition of South Leicester. The South Yorkshire side’s fate is now in their own hands as this latest win, their fourth in five outings, take them out of the drop zone with just one game remaining.

With tries in the first period from dangerous trio Pete Swatkins, Jamie Broadley and Ed Simmons the hosts laid firm foundations and in an explosive spell after the break piled on 17 points in as many minutes to ensure victory.

Swatkins and Broadley’s scintillating end-of-season form continued as they teamed up for the first try.

Neat interplay saw Swatkins over in the corner. Broadley’s converted try pushed the score on to 15-0 with a mesmerising run from 30 metres out.

A loose pass then gifted a runaway try for South winger Taiye Olowofela.

The hosts hit back with a remarkable try from Simmons and South narrowed the deficit through Calum Gunn.

Tigers hit back with two quick-fire tries from Chris Pond and an exquisite effort from Swatkins.

Lee Monks put the game beyond reach before prop Tom Warren scored his side’s only points of the half late on with a powerful finish.
