Huddersfie­ld continue to smash records

HUDDERSFIE­LD have taken the National Three North title with a record breaking 26 wins from 26 after beating Sandal 37-35 in a surprising­ly close encounter at Lockwood Park, a 124 points haul is also something for the record books.

Sandal scored tries through Jack Thompson with two from Ollie Fox, Jimmy Stewart and James Ellar, with Greg Wood slotting two conversion­s and two penalties.

Rossendale might have taken second spot but were totally outplayed by

Wirral at Thornton Common losing 42-14 to the Merseyside outfit. Rob Pearl, Tom Parry, Keith Mahon with two, Ali Baker in his final game for the club and Mark Williams were the try scorers, with James Annetts landing five conversion­s and Williams one. Rossendale got Fraser Lindsay and George Peel over, both converted by Steve Nutt.

Hull were 26-10 winners at home to Kendal. Joe Stafford, Steve Hiheta with two and Tom Price were the try scorers with Tamati Tanumi successful with three conversion­s. Liam Hayter was the sole try scorers for the Cumbrians converted by Glenn Weightman to add to an earlier penalty.

Billingham were 25-19 victors at home to Ilkley. Martin Hopley, Elliott Husband with a brace, and Anthony Jackson crossed for tries, with Danny Finney kicking one conversion and a penalty. Joe Johnson and Mike Jackson were try scorers for Ilkley with Joe Rowntree landing two conversion­s.

Morley's 71-24 win away at Stockport has ensured they survive to fight another day. Iain Sim bagged a hat-trick, Ollie Hutson went in for two with Will Smythe, Dan Richardson, Henry Sheill Scott Glynn and Sam Lawton claiming one each. Nine were converted by Mark Chesters who also hit a penalty. Doncaster Phoenix’s 29-14 win away at relegated Waterloo ensures that they will continue in National Three North for another season. They ran in four tries, kicked three conversion­s and a penalty.

Doncaster’s win means that Cleckheato­n, who lost 27-10 away at Lymm, will join Waterloo and Stockport at the lower level next season.
