Perfect start maintained by the Bridge

- ■ By BEN GODDARD

STOURBRIDGE continued their perfect start to the season after overcoming a tough test against Huddersfield with an emphatic second-half performance.

The hosts started on the front foot and took the lead within 12 minutes when Benjamin Tibbetts slipped around the side of a scrum before running over under the posts.

However, their Yorkshire visitors started to turn the tide and a surging run by Brandon Conway put them deep inside their oppositions half before Ben Morrill finished to draw them level in the tie at the break.

The league leaders regained their lead just two minutes into the second half with Alexander Hearle finishing off a quick move in the corner.

It would get worse for Huddersfield as Thomas Owens missed his pass

allowing kicker Afeafe Haisila to run 20 yards for an individual try.

Full back Joseph Heatley capped off a fine performance by wrapping up the bonus points charging through the middle before going over before Tatenda Mukarati added a fifth.

Huddersfield would have felt hard done by at 32-7 down but finished with a flourish which saw Joel Hinchliffe run around the side of the scrum before dotting down to reduce the deficit.

Brandon Conway then capitalised on a series of errors to run over a third try at the death.
