Anson departs to chase Olympic dream
WORCESTER head coach Carl Hogg says there will be a review of the club’s strength and conditioning department following the departure of Paddy Anson.
The former Royal Marine who had previously worked for Exeter Chiefs and Gloucester, leaves Worcester this week after less than a year at the club.
Anson arrived at Sixways in January, replacing Chris Hart as head of strength and conditioning. Anson was promoted just a few months into his role, becoming head of athletic performance, but he will now take up a position at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Eamonn Hyland is Warriors’ head of strength and conditioning and works alongside Jamie Bain, Ryan Fisher, Kyle Goggin, James Wheeler, Liam Walsh and Joe Ryan-Green in the department.
Hogg said: “Paddy has got an opportunity with the EIS to work on an Olympic programme that he wanted to go back into towards Tokyo, so we wish him all the best. We thank him for his contribution and we will move forward.”
He added: “We will look to review the S&C department and who we replace him with.”
Anson said: “I would like to take the opportunity to thank Gary Gold, Carl Hogg, the board, the staff, the players and fans for all their support during the short period that I have been at the club.”
