Kennedy bulks up front row options

-

LONDON Irish have bolstered their front row options with the signing of former England U20 hooker Tom Woolstencroft.

A World Rugby U20 Championship winner with England in 2014, the 23-year-old came through Bath’s Academy under Danny Grewcock.

He switched from back row to hooker following advice from Grewcock and signed for Wasps ahead of the 2016/17 season, but injury curtailed his time at the Ricoh Arena.

“I can’t wait to get stuck in and show what I can do,” Woolstencroft said. “London Irish is a massive club with big ambitions, and I’m delighted to be working alongside a good group of guys.”

Ealing Trailfinders have brought in Wasps prop Alex Lundberg on a threeweek loan, and Welsh back row Morgan Allen for the remained of the season.

Lundberg, 22, featured for England U20 level and has previous Championship experience with Bedford Blues after spending the 2015/16 season on loan at Goldington Road.

“Having spent a long time on the sidelines due to injury, the possibility of getting some game time with a club like Ealing is a great opportunity for me," said Lundberg.

Director of rugby Ben Ward is pleased to be adding more depth to his squad. He said: “Alex will add to our front-row area and with his ball-carrying ability adds another dimension. Morgan has proved himself at the top level and we’re excited to see him progress here.”
