Pooler open up 12-point gap at the top

PONTYPOOL opened up a 12-point lead at the top following their 38-10 bonuspoint victory over Skewen.

Rhodri Usher hit a treble for the champions with Marc Thorley, Aaron Quick and Cameron Watson-Boycott also on the scoresheet.

Matthew Jones sealed the win with four conversion­s. Skewen hit back through a Gareth Walters try and five points from Adam Rowlands.

Trebanos remain second despite falling 27-23 to Narberth. Lloyd Phillips and Steffan Lewis went over for the One West Central champions with Matthew Edwards kicking 13 points.

But Narberth fought back through tries from Kieran Jones and Jake Price. Jonathan Rogers kicked two penalties and Ianto Griffiths sealed the win with a conversion and three penalties.

Tata Steel managed to avoid slipping down the table despite losing 25-10 to

Bedlinog. Scott Malone went over for Tata with Lloyd Bradley kicking the rest but Bedlinog snatched the points with touchdowns from Dan Parry, Gareth Davies and Joshua Martin. Parry then booted the rest.

Beddau moved up to fourth following their convincing 31-5 home win over

Cardiff Met. Joe Casella, Joe Miles, Lloyd Evans, Leon Rogers and Hywel Chatham all went over for the hosts with Zak Byard hitting three conversion­s.

Glynneath climbed off the bottom with a 23-18 win over fellow strugglers Rhydyfelin, who replaced them. Craig Tennant was at the double for Glynneath with Josh Ferriman also on target and Jack O’Reilly kicking eight points.

Rhydyfelin fought back as Rhys Phillips and Jordan Rees both went over. Dai Gratton booted a conversion and two penalties.

Newbridge earned maximum points in a 36-17 win over Newcastle Emlyn.

Paul King led with a hattrick while Haydn Palmer and Luke Morgan also went over. Simon Veall kicked 11 points.

Steffan Evans and Tomos Jones scored for Emlyn.
