Tigers put Otley to the sword in victory

- ■ By STEVE SMITH

SHEFFIELD Tigers made it back-to-back victories after a dominant opening 40 minutes sunk Otley at Dore Moor.

The hosts had the tryscoring bonus point secured after just 20 minutes, racing into a 24-0 lead.

William Wallace opened the scoring for the Tigers after star man Jamie Broadley slipped in his centre partner to dive over after just two minutes.

Broadley, who scored a hat-trick last time out against Macclesfield, then elevated from creator to scorer as he dotted down to give the Tigers a 10-0 lead within five minutes.

Winger Chris Pond then sped in from 50 metres for their third after 15 minutes before Broadley's second grasped the try bonus point. Fly-half Mark Ireland converted both to open up the 24-0 lead.

Tighthead prop Jason Moss then got the visitors on the scoreboard with his try, converted by Joe Rowntree. However, Peter Swatkins charged his way over after some quality back play to give the hosts a 29-7 lead at the break.

An early penalty from Ireland edged the home side further ahead after the restart but the Beavers rallied as they were first awarded a penalty try before Will Rigg's try narrowed the gap to 11 points.

But despite Otley's late pressure it was it was Ireland who had the final say as he knocked over another penalty to complete the scoring.
