Ten-try Edinburgh turn up heat on Siberians

-

EDINBURGH surged to the top of Pool 4 as they breezed past Krasny Yar at Moscow’s Fili Stadium, running in 10 tries in total.

Blair Kinghorn, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Lewis Carmichael and Neil Cochrane all went over before the break to secure a bonus point.

Substitute prop Murray McCallum added two more scores before a penalty try was awarded and Kinghorn, Fraser McKenzie and Stuart McInally crossed.

Evgenii Kolomiitcev and Andrei Kondakov got Krasny’s second-half tries.

Krasny Yar had caused a surprise in last weekend’s first round of pool fixtures with victory over holders Stade Francais in Siberia.

This match was moved to the Russian capital because of fears about the freezing weather.

Edinburgh were leading 31-0 at half-time and had the try bonus point in the bag thanks to those scores from Kinghorn, HidalgoClyne, Carmichael and Cochrane.

Jason Tovey and Hidalgo-Clyne added 11 points off the tee.

Murray McCallum scored Edinburgh’s fifth try soon after half-time and then added the sixth on 50 minutes.

Evgeni Kolomiytsev hit back for Krasny Yar, but Kinghorn added his second before Fraser McKenzie went over to make it 66-7.

Stuart McInally scored Edinburgh’s tenth try with Andrei Kondakov adding a late consolation for the hosts, who are now second in the pool.
